Explore the world of unconventional weaving

Welcome to handwoven art that breaks free from tradition.

I am a true believer in the unconventional use of conventional looms. My art is handwoven but released from the confines of the traditional loom shapes. They are truly "floating warps"

Clouds

Cloud in 4 pieces must be installed. Can be hung individually or collected together on 2 horizonal wires as shown.

Wrapped - in display rack

Wrapped is shown in my handmade wood display rack. It also looks good just suspended from a ceiling or can be a wall hanging.

Ebb and Flow - Light and Shadow

A study in earth tones flowing and combining. Made entirely of linen held in place by brass rods. A midcentury modern classic.

Stained Glass - in display rack

Stained glass is shown in my handmade wood display rack. It also looks good just suspended from a ceiling or can be a wall hanging.

How the magic happens…..

Unconventional use of a conventional loom…..

What to do with a simple rigid heddle loom. How about the “Variable Dent Reed” sections? Take them apart and move them around.

What to do if you don’t want to weave all of the warp, all of the time. And, how to weave at irregular places in the warp and there is no fell line to press against. And, what to do with the warp when there is no back beam. Good news! You can wind on to the cloth beam, sometimes!

Practice, practice, practice….

Floating Warps - Fiber Arts

  • Maybe I can create a three dimensional work of art just for you? Or, do a program or seminar about the my process .

  • I would love to show you my inspiration for breaking out of the square and flat world of loom woven art. I want to inspire you to think outside of the loom.

  • Keep in touch about what new directions I am going with now.
